Contact lenses are available in a range of materials, each suitable for particular conditions and lifestyle choices. The types of lenses we have available are:
Rigid Gas Permeable (RPG) lenses are durable lenses less prone to dehydration than most lenses. They are the best choice for correcting astigmatism and are available in bifocal and multifocal but do take longer to adjust to than other lens types.
Soft lenses are thin, pliable hydrogel lenses that are comfortable to wear and easy to adjust to. They are available in daily wear (removed at night) or extended wear (can be worn overnight), but can be less durable than RPG lenses.
Disposable Lenses are an excellent option for people concerned about eye health or prone to infections. Disposable lenses are lower maintenance and are available in daily, weekly or monthly options.

Myopia (short-sightedness) is a condition that occurs in children when their eyes grow too long from the front to back, resulting in poor distance vision. If myopia is identified early in children, it can be treated with specialised contact lenses, designed to reshape the eye's surface to restore clear vision and prolong or even prevent vision deterioration.
For practical, caring assessment and treatment of your child’s vision, contact Izzards Optometrists to get started.
Once you’ve chosen the correct type of lenses for your condition, you need to ensure they fit. Contact lenses are available in thousands of shapes and sizes to suit the unique dimensions of your eyes. Your lenses must fit perfectly to the curvature and diameter of each eye to work effectively and not cause discomfort or irritation. This is why we’ll measure and examine your eyes thoroughly to ensure we provide the right lenses for maximum visual clarity and comfort.
